The seminar seeks to answer the question whether the teaching of gender studies calls for a specific methodology. The principles of feminist teaching methods, such as collective non-hierarchical learning will be introduced and topical key issues of gender studies will be discussed. The seminar will also focus on the importance of local socio-political context in gender studies practice as well as the use of foreign-language theories and materials in local classrooms. In addition to the presentations of specialists from the Nordic countries and experienced gender studies scholars from the Baltic countries, all participants are invited to share their experience of teaching in active roundtable discussion.
